Diplomacy only path to prevent further Middle East instability, El-Sisi tells Pezeshkian

On 31 January 2026, president El Sisi highlighted the importance of avoiding escalation by seeking diplomacy. The Egyptian president El Sisi received a call from his iranian counterpart during which they discussed the developments of Iran nuclear file.


This call came amid tensions between Iran and the U.S after president Donald Trump threatened to strike Iran unless it agrees to negotiate a new nuclear deal. El Sisi expressed his concern regarding the attack that might cause further unrest in the middle east. 

The Egyptian President said that Egypt looks forward to help bring the U.S and Iran back to the negotiating table. His Iranian counterpart, Pezeshkian expressed his appreciation for Egypt constructive role in preventing escalation and safeguarding regional security.
