Keir Starmer said in an interview on BBC that his labour administration will shed no tears over the end of Maduro's regime

On January 3, the american president Donald Trump ordered the abduction of Venezuela president Nicolas Maduro. This operation was the riskiest and most high-profile military operation issued by Washington since the US Navy operation in Pakistan in 2011.

After months of escalation over Maduro's involvement in shipping drugs to the US, Trump administration had increased pressure on Caracas with a military buildup in the Caribbean sea and a series of deadly missile attacks on the drug running boats which killed more than 100 people. The legality of such strikes has been questioned by the united nations and legal experts.

The operation has started at 2:00 GMT. The US Forces disabled Venezuela air defence systems. Pete Hegseth, the US defence secretary, described it as a massive joint military and law enforcement raid which lasted less than 30 minutes.

The US helicopters touched down at Maduro compound in the capital at 2:01 on saturday with the venezuelan president and his wife then being taken into US custody.

At 4:29, Maduro was put on board a US aircraft carrier going to New York. Later. Trump posted a photograph of the venezuelan leader on his social platform, blindfolded.

Then, US forces escorted Maduro onto a flight. He arrived at New York Stewart Air National Guard base at approximately 4:30.

An official told the New York Times on condition of anonymity that at least 40 people had been killed in the attacks. However, according to Trump a few US members were injured in the operation but no one was killed.

The abduction of Maduro captured the attention of the global news.

Egyptian situation was an immediate contact with the Egyptian Embassy in Caracus to ensure the safety of the Egyptian residents there.
