They also discussed the situation in Sudan. They both acknlowledged the importance of achieveing ceasefire and allow the establishment of safe humanitarian corridors. They also stated their support for Sudan stability.
But how was the situation of Gaza and Sudan before?
Both of them were part of the Egyptian Kingdom. Gaza was ruled by the Egyptians during the time of Muhammed Ali Pasha for security purposes. It was a small border town and life there depended mainly on trading and farming. It was a poor territory but stable.
Sudan was also a part of the Egyptian Kingdom in 1821 during the reign of Muhammed Ali Pasha. Egypt added Sudan to its terrirtory to control the nile, train soldiers and get gold and resources. This policy caused difficult conditions for the sudanese as they suffered from heavy taxes and forced labor. This led to the Mahdist rebellion.
In modern times, both countries offer incredible potentials and yet they maintain strong relationship with Egypt. It is fascinating how the history of the middle east is closely tied in a way that shaped the culture of the region to a similar ideology.
In Cairo, there are plenty of places that can tell you about the history of the two cultures in an interactive way. its always better to see than to suppose. Check our classical tours, easter tours, Luxury tours, Budget tours and short excursion tours.
